HISTORY

 

Registered F-WTSC to Aerospatiale.

1975 - Jan 31

Maiden flight from Toulouse.

1975 - May 28

Re-registered as F-BTSC to Aerospatiale.

1975

Undertakes a number of route proving and endurance flights including trips to Dakar, Rio de Janeiro, Caracus, Lisbon and Gander.

1976 - Nov 2

Start of a major sales tour of the Far East. Locations include Bahrain, Singapore and Hong Kong, covering over 30,000 miles.

1976 - Jan 6

Leased to Air Fance

1976 - Dec 8

Returned to Aerospatiale.

1977

Takes part in a sales promotional tour to the Middle East.

1979

Has a staring role in the disaster rmovie Airport  79 - The Concorde.

1979 - Jun 11

Re-leased to Air France.

1980 - Oct 23

Purchased by Air France.

1982 - Nov

Put into storage due to over capacity within the Air France Concorde fleet.

1986 - Apr 28

Returns to service, replacing other airframes that require maintenance.

1989 - May 2

Pope John Paul II flies on F-BTSC.

1998 - June

Taken out of service for major maintenance work.

1999 - Nov 1

Returns to regular service.

2000 - Jul 25

Final flight; the aircraft crashes at Gonesse shortly after take off from Paris Charles de Gaulle, no crew or passengers survive. The crash results in all Concordes being grounded for re-engineering work on tyres, landing gear and fuel tanks.

Final Resting Place

The remains of F-BTSC are stored at Le Bourget airport.
